Yangju City, 'Dreaming Urban Garden Design Contest' with Citizens
Yangju City is hosting the 'Dreaming Urban Garden Design Contest' for citizens in celebration of the Ten Million Celosia Festival.
Yangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) announced on the 27th that it held the ‘Dreaming Urban Garden Design Contest’ with citizens in celebration of the Ten Million Celosia Festival.
This contest was organized to share urban agriculture experiences among citizens so that cultivating garden plots in small urban spaces can become a healthy leisure activity for the community.
Ten teams that passed the first round of judging on August 1st each installed a 100cm × 180cm garden plot utilizing small spaces at the Nari Farm lawn square for the second on-site judging.
On the day, internal and external expert judges, including urban agriculture specialists, objectively and fairly evaluated the plant arrangements and originality of expression, selecting five final teams.
A city official said, "We hope this contest will increase interest in urban agriculture, provide an opportunity for citizens to share their experiences and grow together, and further activate urban agriculture in Yangju City."
