Israel Military "Entering a New Phase of War"... Suggests Ground War in Lebanon
The Israeli military, conducting large-scale airstrikes targeting Hezbollah, the pro-Iran armed faction in Lebanon, hinted at a ground operation on the 24th (local time).
Ori Godin, commander of the Israeli Northern Command, visited the 7th Armored Brigade under his command on the same day and said, "We have entered a new phase of the war and are currently carrying out the 'Arrow of the North' operation."
Commander Godin stated, "From the beginning, this operation has inflicted significant damage on Hezbollah's firepower and capabilities, delivering a heavy blow to the organization's commanders and fighters. Therefore, we must change the security situation and be fully prepared for 'maneuver and action.'"
The local daily Times of Israel interpreted Commander Godin's remarks as indicating the possibility of a ground operation in Lebanon. The Jerusalem Post interpreted it as referring to a 'Lebanon invasion.'
Shortly after releasing Commander Godin's remarks, the Israeli military announced in a separate statement that it is mobilizing two reserve brigades for operational activities in the northern region near the Lebanon border.
