Dong-A University Launches Largest-Ever U.S. Employment Program
2024 K-Move School, Largest Expansion Nationwide
Domestic Training Leads to Employment at Major US Corporations
Dong-A University (President Lee Haeu) is expanding its overseas employment project for students to the largest scale in its history.
On the 25th, Dong-A University announced that it will expand the operation of the "2024 K-Move School U.S. Global Expert Overseas Employment Project," which is supervised by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea.
Dong-A University, which had been running its overseas employment program for about 70 students annually, plans to increase the scale to around 100 students, aiming to solidify its reputation as a "university strong in overseas employment."
Dong-A University recently held the "17th K-Move School U.S. Global Expert Overseas Employment Program Job Camp" over two days at the Homers Hotel in Gwangalli, Busan.
This event included a special lecture on "Understanding American Culture" by Consul Nolan Backhaus of the U.S. Consulate in Busan, mentoring from trainees currently working in the U.S., a special lecture on job matching and visa issuance processes, and more.
Kim Dongsoo, CEO of Cloudnine Solution, a company selected for Dong-A University's Pre-startup Package, also gave a direct lecture on the U.S. medical system, providing answers to participants' questions.
For this year's second half, Dong-A University will select a total of 44 trainees for four expert programs?design, logistics/trade, technician, and business?and run domestic training courses until April next year as part of its overseas employment project.
Students participating in the program will receive 600 hours of domestic training over seven months, including native-level English conversation, English resume writing, English interview skills, visa preparation, interpretation practice, and job-specific training. Afterward, they will work at major corporations and local companies in key U.S. cities such as New York and California, earning an annual salary of over $40,000.
The Dong-A University K-Move project, which began in 2013, has been selected and operated for 12 consecutive years, with all four programs receiving the highest A grade for five consecutive years. Dong-A University is the only institution nationwide to operate a total of eight programs (four in the first half and four in the second half), having received over 5.5 billion won in government support and successfully placing about 500 students in jobs in the U.S.
As a result of actively operating this and other overseas employment support programs, Dong-A University ranked first nationwide among universities in the number of students employed overseas, according to the 2023 university information disclosure.
Hwang Jiseong, a fourth-year business administration student selected for the 17th cohort, said, "Since I was a child, my dream was to find a job and live in New York. I am excited to be one step closer to that dream and grateful to Dong-A University and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea for this opportunity."
