The ‘Nanji Theme Tourism Forest Trail’ created by Mapo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Gang-su) is creating a spectacular scene with red Lycoris radiata flowers blooming in autumn.
The Nanji Theme Tourism Forest Trail is a themed tourism forest trail established along the Metasequoia Road in Haneul Park (482-49, Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu).
The fully bloomed red Lycoris radiata covers the green forest path like a carpet laid by nature, deepening the autumn atmosphere.
Nanji Island, once devastated as a landfill site, is now gaining new life with the blooming of the ‘flower of love,’ Lycoris radiata.
In 2023, Mapo-gu planted 370,000 flowers including Lycoris radiata and cluster amaryllis along the Nanji Theme Tourism Forest Trail, transforming it into a popular autumn destination.
Against the backdrop of the green Metasequoia forest path under the blue sky, the clusters of red Lycoris radiata captivate visitors’ eyes. The overlapping petals of the Lycoris radiata, resembling opened red umbrellas, add to the romantic memories of autumn.
Visitors are flocking to the Nanji Theme Tourism Forest Trail upon hearing the news that they can enjoy Lycoris radiata in Seoul without traveling far.
Also, on the ‘Poet’s Street’ of the Nanji Theme Tourism Forest Trail, over 50 poems selected by the Mapo Cultural Center and the Mapo Writers’ Association are displayed, allowing visitors to enjoy not only the autumn scenery but also the scent of literature.
In particular, the district recently created a new barefoot walking path, which has become popular among residents, and installed shoe racks and foot-washing stations to enhance convenience.
Thanks to this, visitors can comfortably enjoy the romance of autumn by walking barefoot along the green Metasequoia forest path and red Lycoris radiata under the blue sky.
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “The Lycoris radiata on the Nanji Theme Tourism Forest Trail is in full bloom beautifully,” adding, “I hope that as autumn deepens, families, couples, and friends can create precious memories enjoying the red Lycoris radiata and the autumn atmosphere in Mapo-gu without traveling far.”
