Presentation on Transition Plans to 'Blended Specialized High Schools' Among Model School Types
Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education held the final report meeting on the future-oriented vocational education model school policy research on the 23rd.
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education announced on the 24th that it held the 'Blended Specialized High School Conversion Policy Research Final Report Meeting' on the 23rd to restructure future education in vocational high schools.
Earlier, in February, the Office of Education announced a plan to promote the 'Restructuring of Future Education in Gyeonggi-do Vocational High Schools' to usher in a second heyday for vocational high schools in the province.
This report meeting was organized as a presentation of policy research results to establish a concrete system for future-oriented vocational education model schools, aiming to serve as a foundation for interest in new changes in vocational high schools and mutual cooperation.
The final report meeting took place at the Academic Information Center of Sungkyul University, attended by about 130 people including principals, vice principals, and teachers of vocational high schools in the province, as well as supervisors in charge of vocational high schools from education support offices.
The presentations featured Professor Choi Su-jeong from Seoul National University and Park Ki-cheol, the vocational education supervisor from the Office of Education, focusing on △legal feasibility review for the conversion to blended specialized high schools △the establishment purpose of the specialized high schools, human resource development, and practical skill enhancement methods △and the establishment of a blended model that enables substantial curriculum through coexistence of online and offline education.
Based on the presentation content, the Office of Education plans to strive to secure human and material resources for the future-oriented vocational education model school conversion and to continuously work to strengthen the competitiveness of vocational high schools.

Kim Seong-jin, Director of Career and Vocational Education at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, said, “Based on this final policy research report meeting, we will devise a blended specialized high school model suitable for Gyeonggi-do and actively communicate with the field to lead change,” adding, “We will consider and support ways to enhance the self-sustainability and competitiveness of vocational high schools in the province despite the declining school-age population and the development of advanced industries.”
