Ships Collide Off the Coast of Changwon Budo, 2 Crew Members Injured
At approximately 5:54 a.m. on the 24th, a collision occurred at sea about 1.5 kilometers (0.8 nautical miles) south of the port in Jinhae-gu, Changwon-si, Gyeongnam, between a 2-ton class coastal composite fishing boat and a 16-ton class vessel.

View original imageAccording to the Changwon Coast Guard, the captain in his 60s aboard the 2-ton class fishing boat complained of chest pain, and a female crew member in her 60s sustained bruises to her arms and legs and was transported to the hospital.
A male in his 20s aboard the 16-ton class vessel was reportedly unharmed.
The fishing boat, which was damaged by the impact when the bow of the vessel struck the right side of the fishing boat, was towed to Sokcheon Port in Jinhae, while the vessel entered Pier 2 of Masan Port under its own power.
Upon receiving the report, the Changwon Coast Guard dispatched patrol vessels, coastal rescue boats from Jinhae and Masan substations, and the Changwon rescue team, successfully rescuing all those on board.
The Coast Guard is investigating the exact circumstances of the accident, believing that at around 3:50 a.m. that day, the 16-ton class vessel departed from Pier 2 of Masan Port heading to Gapo Pier and collided with the fishing boat, which was operating at the time, after failing to notice it.
