[NE Coffee Chat] "Before Starting a Franchise, Be Sure to Check with 'Peucha Planner'"
Interview with Jang Jin-ho, CEO of Je2ui Mun
Franchise Startup, The Beginning of a Second Life
Solutions to Prevent Irreversible Bankruptcy
"Franchise startups are the beginning of a second life." CEO Jang Jin-ho's words carried the weight of his dedication to his work. Franchise startups are easy to approach, but in the food service industry, which has the highest number of businesses, the closure rate reaches 15%, indicating a high risk of failure. However, closing a business not only results in losses but can also lead to bankruptcy. Having seen many people fail to properly build their second life and become discouraged, CEO Jang embarked on his own startup journey. The reason he named his company 'Je2euiMun' (The Second Door) is to provide a franchise startup solution that does not fail, enabling people to open the door to their second life stably. It is to offer a franchise startup solution that prevents failure.
On the 24th, CEO Jang said, "When starting a franchise, if done wrong, it is difficult to turn back," adding, "PchaPlanner offers a safety line that prevents failure." Launched at the end of 2020, PchaPlanner, short for 'Franchise Planner,' is an advising solution that helps entrepreneurs make decisions. Specifically, it consists of five stages: entrepreneur diagnosis, brand analysis, location recommendation, franchise fee analysis, and franchise broker matching. It suggests which franchise industry suits the entrepreneur, which brand to choose based on that, where to open it, and analyzes in advance how much cost will be incurred and what level of profit can be expected.
The competitiveness and reliability of the analysis come from data accumulated from numerous startup cases. CEO Jang himself has met over 2,000 entrepreneurs and has continuously collected policies from franchise headquarters. For example, when an entrepreneur inquires about starting a business, they input their information, and based on the accumulated data, artificial intelligence (AI) matches the brand with the entrepreneur. CEO Jang explained, "We connect any brand in a customized way for the entrepreneur and provide suitable locations and loan programs according to the situation."
CEO Jang decided to start this business after experiencing the information asymmetry problem in the franchise industry while working as a supervisor at Pizza Alvolo. There were countless entrepreneurs who realized only after some time that the industry did not suit them. The thought that failures could have been prevented if they had known their tendencies and started a business in a suitable industry or brand led CEO Jang to establish 'Je2euiMun.' He emphasized, "I hope it becomes widely recognized that entrepreneurs should check with PchaPlanner before starting a franchise," adding, "I want to prevent irreversible bankruptcy and provide an alarm for stable startups to entrepreneurs."
Results are emerging. So far, about 100 startups have applied PchaPlanner's solutions. According to him, the duration of business maintenance shows more than twice the stability compared to existing statistics. Je2euiMun's business can also be a win-win with franchise headquarters. According to the Fair Trade Commission, as of 2023, there are 12,429 franchise brands in total, and most brands consider securing entrepreneurs their most important mission. PchaPlanner's revenue model is to connect suitable entrepreneurs to these brands and receive a portion of the costs incurred by the headquarters during new store openings as a commission. The service is provided to entrepreneurs free of charge.
