Partial remains presumed to be those of a man in his 50s who went missing a year ago were found on a mountain in Yeongdeok, Gyeongbuk, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
On the 23rd, Yonhap News reported, "Around 6:50 p.m. on the 22nd, some bones believed to be human were discovered on a mountain in Daebu-ri, Yeongdeok-eup, Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk." According to the report, the bones were found by a local resident of a nearby village. Along with bone fragments such as a human femur, pants and shoes were also found at the scene.
The location where the bones were found is near the area where a man in his 50s, Mr. A, was reported missing in September last year. Mr. A is known to have gone missing on September 18 of last year. The police have taken statements from Mr. A’s family, confirming the pants and shoes found with the bones.
The police have requested DNA analysis of the discovered bones from the National Forensic Service to specifically identify the remains and will continue search operations for the rest of the body.
