Pro-Iraq Militant Group: "We Also Attacked Israel with Drones"... No Casualties Reported
Israel "Intercept All"
Pro-Iranian Iraqi armed groups claimed to have carried out a drone attack against Israel.
According to AFP on the 22nd (local time), the pro-Iranian coalition group Iraqi Islamic Resistance (IRI) stated in a Telegram announcement, "IRI fighters targeted strategic locations in the (Israeli) occupied territories using drones on Sunday morning (22nd)," adding that it was "to support the people of (Palestinian) Gaza Strip."
In response, Israel reported intercepting "multiple suspicious aerial targets" coming from Iraq overnight, with no injuries reported.
IRI's attack came amid growing concerns over escalation in the Middle East. Earlier that day, Israel announced that the pro-Iranian armed faction Hezbollah in Lebanon had begun airstrikes on civilian residential areas near Israel's northern border, prompting retaliatory strikes.
Supported by Iran, IRI claimed to have conducted several drone attacks against Israel in recent months. According to Israel, all these drones were intercepted.
