Gangnam-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will hold the 13th Beautiful Architecture Exhibition from the 23rd to the 29th in the COEX East Gate Lobby, with an awards ceremony scheduled for 3 PM on the 27th.

Since 2006, the district has been selecting "Beautiful Architecture" to encourage excellent buildings that enhance the urban landscape and promote architectural culture. Among the works submitted through an open call in July and August, a total of 19 were selected, including the Grand Prize (1), Excellence Awards (2), Merit Awards (3), Beautiful Architecture Awards (10), and Special Awards for Public Open Spaces (3).

The Grand Prize-winning building is Innerspace, located in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu (60, Gangnam-daero 136-gil). It is a concrete company office facility with 2 basement floors and 7 above-ground floors, covering a total floor area of 1,042.87㎡. This building maximizes views from the upper floors by utilizing the sloped terrain and boasts a unique sculptural beauty resembling a figure soaring from the ground.

The Excellence Awards went to ▲ Gray Cheongdam (12, Seolleung-ro 148-gil) ▲ Gust & Gale & Oscar (31, Eonju-ro 107-gil), and the Merit Awards were given to ▲ Lema Building (34, Gangnam-daero 116-gil) ▲ House of Slowness (30, Hakdong-ro 47-gil) ▲ Meilenstein (32-6, Teheran-ro 51-gil).

The newly introduced Public Open Space category this year was established to encourage the creation of public open spaces, which have become an important element enhancing the city's appeal. The Special Awards for Public Open Spaces were awarded to ▲ Asia Media Center (27, Eonju-ro 39-gil) ▲ POSCO Square Garden (440, Teheran-ro) ▲ Center Field (231, Teheran-ro).

The exhibition features the 19 award-winning works along with a "History Wall" where visitors can appreciate past winners. The exhibition is open free of charge from 10 AM to 6 PM.

Various free participation programs linked to the exhibition will also be held. On the 28th and 29th, lectures by four architects and a silkscreen printing experience program for children and youth will be offered. After the exhibition ends, in early October, tour programs visiting 3 to 4 award-winning buildings by bus and on foot, as well as visits to the design offices of the winners, are planned.

Except for the silkscreen printing program, applications can be made through the Seoul Public Service Reservation website, and detailed information about the exhibition is available on the official website.

District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong stated, "I hope this exhibition will serve as an opportunity to widely inform residents about the beauty of architecture and the importance of urban aesthetics," adding, "We will continue various efforts to develop architectural culture that will lay the foundation for a sustainable future city, Gangnam."
