The court explained the sentencing by stating, "Despite having multiple prior convictions for similar crimes such as drunk driving and driving without a license, the defendant caused personal injury while intoxicated during the recidivism period. Although the victim’s injuries are serious, the fact that the offending vehicle was covered by comprehensive insurance means there appears to be no particular obstacle to the victim’s damage recovery. Additionally, the defendant admitted to the crime from the investigation stage and has belatedly shown remorse for his wrongdoing," taking these factors into consideration.
