Yeongju City announced on the 4th that, in celebration of the Chuseok holiday, it will open public parking lots at local traditional markets for free to provide parking convenience for citizens and returning visitors, as well as to revitalize the local economy.
According to the city, the parking lots to be opened include 180 spaces at the Yeongju Public Market Parking Tower, 101 spaces at the Sinyeongju Beongae Market Parking Lot, and 127 spaces at the Yeongju 365 Market Public Parking Lot, for a total of 408 parking spaces at three locations.
The free parking period will last for five days, from the 14th to the 18th during the Chuseok holiday, and all users will be exempt from parking fees during this time.
The city plans to clean the areas around the parking lots and traditional markets and install banners for Chuseok shopping to create a pleasant shopping environment and a festive holiday atmosphere.
Geum Wonseop, head of the Job and Economy Division, said, "We hope that returning visitors and traditional market users during this Chuseok holiday will be able to use the markets conveniently," and added, "Since this is intended to help revitalize the stagnant local economy and traditional market businesses, we hope even more people will visit the traditional markets."
