On the 3rd, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held a ceremony at the Seongsan Art Hall Grand Theater to commemorate Gender Equality Week 2024.
On this day, around 1,000 members of women's organizations and citizens attended the ceremony in celebration of Gender Equality Week. Under the slogan "A Gender-Equal Society Where We Work and Care Together," various programs were held to emphasize the importance of gender equality and encourage its practice.
Commendations were awarded to eight individuals who contributed to the promotion of gender equality, and certificates were presented to the winners of the "Changwon I LOVE Child Essay Contest," which was held last May to improve perceptions of childbirth and marriage.
A performance visually expressing the meaning of Gender Equality Week was also held, providing an opportunity to reaffirm the commitment to practicing gender equality.
In the second part of the event, a celebratory performance for Gender Equality Week featured popular trot singer Younggi and others, who received applause and cheers from both male and female attendees with their passionate stage.
Changwon Special City Mayor Hong Nam-pyo stated, "In this era of population crisis, we will create gender equality policies that meet the expectations of our citizens to achieve work-life balance and address the low birth rate issue."
