Osan-si, 2nd Supplementary Budget of 862.7 Billion Won Prepared... 30.4 Billion Won Increase
"Reflection of Livelihood Budgets Such as Youth Education and Elderly Welfare"
Osan City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 3rd that it has prepared and submitted the second supplementary budget for this year, amounting to 862.7 billion KRW, to the city council.
This supplementary budget is 30.4 billion KRW (3.66%) larger than the first supplementary budget of 832.2 billion KRW. The city explained that the supplementary budget includes many funds related to education, health, and welfare.
Regarding the education and welfare budget for children and adolescents, it includes ▲free meal support (13.08 billion KRW) ▲school education expense support (1.74 billion KRW) ▲entrance preparation fund support (150 million KRW) ▲student-centered educational activity support (130 million KRW), among others. The free meal support is a project that provides lunch meal expenses during the semester for private kindergartens and elementary, middle, and high schools. The school education expense support project is a program that supports native speaker online English education for elementary, middle, and high school students and youths of the corresponding age group within the city.
The supplementary budget also includes 340 million KRW for operating support of elderly welfare facilities. This budget will be used for repairs and maintenance of senior centers, replacement of outdated equipment, and resolving difficulties.
Budgets related to elite sports, community sports, and the promotion of sports exchanges were also reflected. These include ▲support for participation in the Gyeonggi Province Sports Competition (325 million KRW) ▲support for overseas exchanges of athletes (5 million KRW) ▲support for hosting and participating in the Governor and Provincial Council Chairman's Community Sports Competition (110 million KRW), among others.
The supplementary budget also contains funds for social participation of persons with disabilities, including ▲participation and hosting of sports competitions by disability category (19 million KRW) ▲additional support for activity assistance benefits for persons with disabilities (950 million KRW). Additionally, the city included a contribution of 600 million KRW in the supplementary budget for special guarantees to support small business owners lacking financial resources.

Mayor Lee said, "We prepared the supplementary budget focusing on areas of high public interest such as education, welfare, and health," and added, "We ask for the cooperation of the city council so that the supplementary budget can be smoothly processed and promptly executed."
