Definition of New Five Major Evils Including Secondary Sexual Violence, Workplace Harassment, and Drug Crimes
On the 29th, the People Power Party decided to completely exclude individuals involved in digital crimes, including 'deepfake' sexual offenses and cyber harassment, from candidacy in the October 16 by-elections.
The Central Party Nomination Committee for the by-elections held its first meeting that day and announced through a press release that it had resolved to strengthen the disqualification criteria for nominations accordingly.
The Nomination Committee defined not only digital crimes but also secondary sexual violence, workplace harassment, school violence, and drug crimes as the "new five major evils that rob the future of the Republic of Korea."

View original imageThis by-election covers the positions of Busan Geumjeong District Mayor, Incheon Ganghwa County Governor, Jeonnam Yeonggwang County Governor, and Jeonnam Gokseong County Governor.
The People Power Party's announcement for nomination applications will be held from the 2nd to the 7th of next month. Applications will be accepted from the 4th to the 9th. The Nomination Committee stated, "We aim to finalize candidates before the Chuseok holiday as much as possible to prepare for the election promptly."
Nomination applicants must pay a party membership fee of 900,000 KRW and a screening fee of 3,000,000 KRW, but applicants for the gubernatorial nominations in the Honam region, specifically Jeonnam Gokseong and Yeonggwang, are exempt from the screening fee.

Earlier, at the morning meeting of the party's Supreme Council, the formation of the Central Party Nomination Committee chaired by Secretary-General Seo Beom-su was approved. The committee members include Shin Ji-ho, Deputy Head of Strategic Planning; Jeong Seong-guk, Deputy Head of Organization; Shin Ui-jin, Chair of the Central Ethics Committee; and Yoo Il-jun, Chair of the Party Audit Committee, totaling five members.
