Police Launch Investigation into 8 Telegram Bots Producing Deepfake Content
"Broad Investigation, Subject to Future Changes"
The police have identified eight Telegram rooms producing deepfakes and have initiated a preliminary investigation before formal charges.
On the 28th, the Cyber Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that they have started a preliminary investigation into eight 'deepfake bots' that synthesize the faces in photos with the nude bodies of others when a photo is uploaded.
It was found that the deepfake bots initially create synthesized images for free, but subsequently require payment to request additional work.
