Held for 3 Days from the 27th... Scholarship Certificate Award Ceremony Included

POSCO Cheongam Foundation (Chairman Kim Seon-wook) held a scholarship certificate awarding ceremony on the 27th at the POSCO Baegunsan Training Center in Gwangyang for 18 newly selected Asia Korean Study Abroad Scholars and 50 POSCO Vision Scholars, followed by a 3-day, 2-night workshop.

All members of the foundation's board, including Chairman Kim Seon-wook, attended the certificate awarding ceremony.

The Asia Korean Study Abroad Scholarship is one of the POSCO Asia Fellowship programs operated by the POSCO Cheongam Foundation, inviting young science and engineering talents from Asian countries to Korea to support their master's and doctoral studies at domestic graduate schools.

The support covers tuition and living expenses, with an annual scholarship fund of approximately 1.3 billion KRW provided to all scholars.

Additionally, opportunities to experience Korean society, economy, and culture are offered. Since its establishment in 2005, the program has produced 532 scholars from 33 countries as of this year.

The POSCO Vision Scholarship is a scholarship program that annually selects university students from Pohang and Gwangyang regions who possess both character and intellect, supporting their growth into outstanding members of society by providing a living support scholarship of 5 million KRW per year for seven semesters from the second semester of their freshman year until graduation.

The total annual scholarship fund for all scholars is approximately 800 million KRW.

Since its establishment in 2006, the POSCO Vision Scholarship has produced 636 scholars as of this year.

This year's integrated certificate awarding ceremony was extended by one day compared to previous years, conducted over a 3-day, 2-night schedule to provide more meaningful programs for the scholars.

The workshop included various special lectures and experiential activities.

In his welcoming speech, Kim Seon-wook, Chairman of POSCO Cheongam Foundation, said, "Through today's certificate awarding ceremony, I hope new connections are made and develop into relationships that positively influence each other," adding, "The POSCO Cheongam Foundation will accompany and support you on your journey toward your dreams and goals."

In addition to scholarships, the POSCO Cheongam Foundation plans to support Asia Korean Study Abroad Scholars with 'Korean language lessons' for quick adaptation to life in Korea and various 'Korean cultural experience programs' to ensure a successful study abroad experience.

For POSCO Vision Scholars, besides scholarship payments, various programs will be operated to support their growth, including 'Global Overseas Exploration' during vacation periods and 'Career Mentoring' to assist with career planning and employment activities.

The POSCO Cheongam Foundation plans to continue discovering and supporting talents and implementing various programs to have a positive impact on society.
