View original imageYongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) announced on the 28th that it has installed and started operating pay-per-use garbage bag vending machines utilizing Internet of Things (IoT) technology at the Yongsan-gu Office and Itaewon 2-dong Community Service Center.
With these vending machines, residents can easily purchase various sizes of pay-per-use garbage bags using a convenient card payment system. Additionally, real-time inventory tracking is possible, reducing unnecessary vehicle trips and enabling environmentally efficient operation.
The types of bags available in the vending machines include ▲food waste bags in 1L, 2L, and 3L ▲general household waste bags in 5L and 50L ▲reusable bags in 10L and 20L ▲special sacks in 10L and 20L. The reusable bags can be used throughout Seoul. To meet diverse resident demands, small-capacity bags and special sacks, which are less commonly sold, were also included.
An official from the district stated, “Through the pay-per-use garbage bag vending machines, which were introduced for the first time in Seoul, efficient distribution and inventory management of garbage bags from production to sales will be possible,” adding, “We plan to review expanding installation based on the vending machines’ operational performance.”
