Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) will conduct a joint public-private safety inspection of 42 district-run senior centers within the area until September 10.
This inspection is organized to prevent everyday safety accidents and ensure the safety of elderly users of the senior centers. Gwangjin-gu plans to inspect the overall facilities of the senior centers together with related departments, autonomous disaster prevention teams from each neighborhood, and senior center members.
The main inspection items include ▲presence of fire extinguishers ▲gas safety management ▲anti-slip measures on floors and handrails ▲management of cooking utensils and hygiene, aiming to prevent fires and fall accidents, as well as hygiene checks to prevent food poisoning during the summer season.
On the 21st, a safety inspection was conducted at the Guui 2-dong Senior Center (Chairperson Bang Chun-ja). About 20 people, including senior center members and autonomous disaster prevention team members, participated to identify and improve potential hazards that could be overlooked in daily life, such as checking the expiration dates of food in refrigerators and installing covers on kitchen outlets.
Bang Chun-ja, Chairperson of the Guui 2-dong Senior Center, expressed her participation sentiment, saying, “I will actively participate in creating a senior center where the elderly can use with peace of mind.”
