Pohang Mayor's Cup National Jet Ski Championship Successfully Concludes
Jet Ski Competition Held at Yeongildae Beach
Pohang City held the '2024 Pohang Mayor's National Jet Ski Championship' at Yeongildae Beach on the 25th.
This competition, which has been held annually since 2016, is hosted by the Pohang Jet Ski Association and the Korea Powerboat Federation, with support from Pohang City, Pohang City Council, and Pohang City Sports Council. For enthusiasts, it is an important opportunity to build a significant career as an athlete.
In the morning, the first round of the novice, limited, and pro GP categories, in addition to the Spark race, was held. The rankings for first to third place in each category were determined by the combined scores of the second round in the afternoon. The event concluded with the highlight of the championship, the Endurance (long-distance, 20 laps) category, completing all five events.
The thrilling races of the participants, who showcased the skills they had honed while cutting through the waves of Yeongilman in Pohang, offered visitors to Yeongildae Beach a unique spectacle and refreshing scenery.
Heo Junguk, Director of Urban Safety and Housing, stated, "Through this competition, we have contributed to the expansion and revitalization of marine leisure sports, further establishing Pohang as a mecca for marine leisure sports," adding, "We will continue to strive to enhance the image of Pohang as a tourism city for marine leisure sports."
