Yeongdeok County to Intensively Crack Down on Illegal Waste Incineration Starting in September
Yeongdeok County in North Gyeongsang Province will launch intensive guidance and crackdowns starting in September to eradicate the illegal incineration of household waste and agricultural by-products.
The main focus of the crackdown will be on the incineration of household waste, construction waste, and agricultural waste and by-products. Alongside enforcement, Yeongdeok County plans to carry out promotional activities to prevent illegal burning, utilizing various channels such as township offices and the official website.
If caught engaging in illegal burning, violators will be fined up to 500,000 KRW for incinerating household waste, and up to 1,000,000 KRW if the incineration occurs during business activities, in accordance with Article 8, Paragraph 2 of the Waste Management Act.
Kim Myunghee, Head of the Environmental Sanitation Division, stated, "Illegal incineration of waste can generate hazardous substances and increase the risk of wildfires, causing inconvenience to residents. To maintain a pleasant living environment, we plan to strengthen patrols and enforcement activities, so we ask that you always use designated waste bags when disposing of waste."
