Songpa-gu Expands Intelligent CCTV in Child Protection Zones... Strengthening Child Safety
Strengthening System with 68 CCTVs at 45 Child Protection Zones in Songpa-gu
▲22 Additional Fixed Cameras ▲45 New Intelligent Surveillance Systems Equipped with AI Features
Seogangseok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, "Residents' Safety is Top Priority, Will Build a Dense Social Safety Net"
Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that it will expand the installation of “intelligent CCTV” in 45 child protection zones within the district and implement measures to strengthen child safety.
In response to the recent increase in unfortunate incidents and accidents within child protection zones, the district plans to enhance the smart CCTV system primarily around elementary schools in the area.
With a budget of 140 million KRW, the district aims to complete the installation by October, targeting areas with concerns about child crimes by ▲installing 1 new CCTV location ▲adding 22 fixed cameras to eliminate blind spots ▲establishing 45 intelligent selective monitoring systems.
In particular, safety will be promptly secured through the “intelligent selective monitoring system” utilizing the latest deep learning algorithms. The AI automatically analyzes footage captured by CCTV, and when it detects risk factors, it displays the relevant footage for monitoring personnel to observe directly, prompting immediate action.
For the 45 existing CCTV units, functions such as ▲‘person and vehicle object identification’ and ▲‘AI selective monitoring’ capable of automatically detecting abnormal behaviors like fainting or fighting have been added to improve response capabilities in emergencies such as crimes.
Meanwhile, to create a city where children are safe from crime, the district designated 100 child protection zones including elementary schools and children’s parks in the area last year through a business agreement with the Songpa Police Station. It is making every effort to prevent child crimes through patrol activities in child protection zones using child safety guardians and volunteer crime prevention squads, as well as campaigns.
