Inha University, Achievements in 4th Phase BK21 Innovative Talent Training Project... Continued Support for 7 Research Groups
Inha University announced on the 16th that it has achieved good results in the recent announcement related to the 4th phase Brain Korea (BK) 21 Innovative Talent Nurturing Project.
The Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea are implementing the Innovative Talent Nurturing Project in the 4th phase BK21 project, aiming to foster world-class research-oriented universities, drive new industry growth, and cultivate research personnel who lead the resolution of industrial and social issues.
Inha University received favorable evaluations for all seven currently operating education and research groups in the mid-term performance evaluation of the 4th phase BK21 Innovative Talent Nurturing Project, securing continued support.
Inha University underwent mid-term evaluations in seven detailed fields: ▲Future Automobiles (Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering) ▲Artificial Intelligence (Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering) ▲Biohealth and Innovative New Drugs (Department of Bio-Systems Convergence) ▲Customized Healthcare (Major in Biomedical Science and Engineering) ▲Energy New Industry and Renewable Energy (Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Convergence) ▲Humanities, Social Sciences, and Technology Convergence (Graduate School of Logistics) ▲Science and Technology Convergence (Major in Polymer Environmental Convergence Engineering).
Through the mid-term evaluation, the bottom 30% of project groups must undergo re-selection evaluation in the second half of the year; however, all seven education and research groups at Inha University were recognized for their capabilities and will continue their projects without separate evaluation.
Additionally, this year, one more education and research group was newly selected in the intelligent semiconductor field of the Innovative Talent Nurturing Project. Recently, Inha University was also selected for the Ministry of Education’s Semiconductor Specialized University Support Project, establishing a full-cycle support system for nurturing next-generation semiconductor talents from undergraduate to graduate levels.
The Graduate School’s Semiconductor Convergence major, the core of the Intelligent Semiconductor Education and Research Group, operates a curriculum involving various majors such as advanced materials, electrical and electronic engineering, polymer chemistry, and semiconductor physics, cultivating customized talents specialized in chiplet semiconductors.
Through this, Inha University expects to strengthen industry-academia cooperation with major companies in the semiconductor post-processing field in the Incheon area and produce outstanding talents with global competitiveness.
Inha University plans to conduct research through eight education and research groups and one education and research team by 2027 under the 4th phase BK21 Future and Innovative Talent Nurturing Project.
Inha University secured at least 30.5 billion KRW in national funding from the 4th phase BK21 Innovative Talent Nurturing Project and maintained its status as a Graduate School Innovation Support University, awarded to universities operating five or more education and research groups. An additional 4.4 billion KRW in graduate school innovation support funds will also be provided.
Inha University will continue comprehensive investments to nurture the next generation of scholars, including graduate student research scholarships and support for international joint research.
