85% of visitors to Paris were French, of whom 45% were residents of the metropolitan area. Among the 15% foreign visitors, a significant number were from the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
The increase in visitors brought a boom to the hotel industry. The room occupancy rate in central Paris reached 84%, which is 10 percentage points higher than the same period last year (July 23 to August 6). MKG, a hotel consulting firm, evaluated that the French hotel industry is expected to generate revenue of 357 million euros (approximately 530 billion KRW) during the Olympics, thanks to the rise in room occupancy and prices (up to 118% in Paris).
