Ulsan Office of Education to Support Experiential Career Exploration for Middle and High School Students
Around 210 Students Visit Local Companies from September to November
Future Career Planning Experience with Local University Students
Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Cheon Changsoo) will operate the experiential career exploration program ‘Local Company Tour’ seven times from September to November for middle and high school students in Ulsan who wish to participate.
This event, selected for the first time as a citizen participatory budget project this year, is designed to help young people form a healthy perspective on careers and make informed career choices.
The ‘Local Company Tour’ program allows students to visit companies in Ulsan together with university student mentors from the Ulsan University LINC (Leaders in Industry-university Cooperation) project group (Teach for Ulsan), where they can design and experience their future career paths. The LINC project group is a university-affiliated institution active in various fields such as industry-academia cooperation, technology transfer, startup support, and talent development.
Participating local companies include Korea East-West Power, Korea National Oil Corporation, S-OIL, and SK Energy.
The event was held three times last July, with 81 students from three schools (one middle school and two high schools) participating.
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education will also provide free transportation for students participating in the program.
From this month, approximately 210 students will be recruited on a first-come, first-served basis for the events to be held in the second half of the year. Students who wish to participate can apply through Kkumgil.
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education also operated the experiential career exploration event ‘I Am Also a Future YouTuber’ 13 times for elementary and middle school students in Ulsan from May to June this year.
The ‘I Am Also a Future YouTuber’ event provides students with the opportunity to develop creativity and collaboration skills through the process of producing and editing videos on various topics.
The Ulsan Software Cooperative Association visited participating schools directly to support content planning, practice with filming equipment, video editing, and screening sessions.
This event involved 332 students from 13 schools (nine elementary schools and four middle schools).
