Gijang County Recruits Households for 'Low-Income Energy Efficiency Improvement Project'
Average of 2.43 Million Won Per Household... First Come, First Served Until End of October
Gijang-gun (Governor Jung Jongbok) announced on the 1st that applications are now open for the "2024 Energy Efficiency Improvement Project (Heating Support) for Low-Income Households" until the end of October.
The "Energy Efficiency Improvement Project for Low-Income Households" is implemented by the Korea Energy Foundation under the supervision of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to improve the energy usage environment for low-income households during the winter season.
The project provides support worth an average of 2.43 million KRW per household for energy-vulnerable households, including insulation work, window replacement, and replacement of old boilers.
Eligible applicants include households receiving the National Basic Livelihood Security, near-poor households, and low-income households in the welfare blind spot. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis at local town and township administrative welfare centers, and the Korea Energy Foundation will select the households to receive support.
However, households eligible for repair and maintenance benefits under Article 8 of the Housing Benefit Act, households residing in public institution-owned housing, households that have received support from this project within the past two years, and households seeking only simple home improvements such as wallpapering, flooring, or kitchen sink replacement are excluded from support. As this is a nationwide project, it may end early if the budget is exhausted.
A Gijang-gun official stated, "We will prepare various support measures for energy-marginalized groups who are more vulnerable to climate changes such as cold waves and heat waves."
