Gwangju Veterans Affairs Office Holds Special Cultural Festival Reenacting 'Battle of Bongodong' in Goryeoin Village
Commemorating Gwangbokjeol: 'Goryeoin, Goryeoin, I am a Daehan Guk-in' Theme
Events Include Children's Choir, Nanta Performance, and Experience Booths
The Gwangju Regional Office of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs announced on the 31st that it will hold a special event in the Goryeoin Village to commemorate Liberation Day on August 15.
This event is co-hosted by Gwangsan-gu and the Goryeoin Village Association under the theme "Goryeoin, Goryeoin, I am a Dae Han Guk In (Korean)."
Gwangju Goryeoin Village is a place where descendants settled in their homeland and formed a village to carry on the legacy of their ancestors who left for Russia's Primorsky Krai and North Gando during the Japanese colonial period to fight for independence.
This patriotic cultural festival will reenact the Battle of Bongodong, a great victory under the command of General Hong Beom-do, in the form of a water gun festival with village residents and citizens participating together. Various events such as a children's choir from Goryeoin Village, Nanta performances, and experience booths are also planned.
The event will be vividly broadcast live by GBS (Goryeo Broadcasting Station).
