"Reduce Fatal Accidents"... Gyeonggi-do Promotes Construction Safety Management Computer System Development
Gyeonggi Province is establishing a new construction safety management IT system to reduce fatal accidents at construction sites.
Currently, there is no management system within the province to verify safety management compliance or monitor real-time safety conditions, making it urgent to build infrastructure for establishing a safety culture. This project focuses on creating a system that can check and manage the safety status of construction sites in real time.
The new construction safety management system will commence on the 31st of this month and be completed by January 31, 2026.
The main functions include ▲real-time monitoring of safety conditions at construction sites ▲inspection and management of legal safety management compliance ▲efficient establishment and implementation of inspection plans.
Additionally, it will conduct focused management of high-risk sites and perform statistical analysis for accident prediction and management. Furthermore, a control system for smart safety equipment will be established to monitor site conditions in real time.
Information on construction sites within the province will be provided through web and app platforms, allowing residents to check site locations, progress rates, and report substandard construction. Construction stakeholders will be able to systematically register weekly and monthly progress, establish inspection plans, and manage inspection results through the system.
Gyeonggi Province has formed an advisory group of about 50 actual system users to ensure effective system development.
In particular, to enhance user convenience, integration with related agencies’ systems such as the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Korea Infrastructure Safety & Technology Corporation, the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and the Korea Workers' Compensation & Welfare Service is underway. This measure aims to resolve the issue of duplicate data entry by construction-related officials and workers.
Gyeonggi Province expects that the system introduction will reduce safety accidents at construction sites and guarantee the safety of construction workers.
