Guro-gu Launches 'Jeonse Fraud Victim Support Project'
From August 1, Moving Expenses, Monthly Rent, and Lease Deposit Return Guarantee Fees Support for Jeonse Fraud Victims
One of Three Support Items Available... Victims Who Moved In Before the Support Program Implementation Can Also Apply
Guro-gu (District Mayor Moon Heon-il) will launch the ‘Jeonse Fraud Victim Support Project’ starting August 1.
The district announced that to help victims of jeonse fraud recover quickly, it enacted and implemented the Guro-gu Jeonse Fraud Victim Support Ordinance in March this year, establishing necessary provisions such as the scope and methods of support, and will begin providing assistance from August 1.
The support targets are homeless Guro-gu residents who have been designated as victims of jeonse fraud in Guro-gu and have newly signed lease contracts for residential buildings located in Guro-gu and are currently residing there.
Jeonse fraud victims can receive one of the following three types of support: △ moving expenses support for emergency housing support residence △ monthly rent support △ guarantee fee support for housing lease deposit return guarantee. Only one of these three support options can be applied for.
The ‘Moving Expenses Support for Emergency Housing Support Residence’ provides actual moving expenses up to 1 million KRW to victims who moved into public rental housing through an emergency housing support application.
The ‘Monthly Rent Support’ provides up to 200,000 KRW per month for a maximum of 12 months to victims who have moved into private monthly rental housing and have paid rent at least once. However, those who rent housing from direct ascendants, siblings, or relatives within the second degree of kinship, or who have moved into public rental housing, are excluded from support. Also, monthly rent paid before the implementation of the support project will not be retroactively supported.
The ‘Guarantee Fee Support for Housing Lease Deposit Return Guarantee’ reimburses up to 300,000 KRW of the guarantee fee paid by victims who have moved into jeonse or monthly rental housing and paid the housing lease deposit return guarantee fee.
All three types of support can be applied for even by households that were designated as jeonse fraud victims and have already moved in before the support project’s start date (August 1).
Additionally, those receiving similar support under other laws or ordinances cannot apply, and support may be discontinued if the recipient moves out of Guro-gu, so applicants should check other relevant precautions related to the support.
Applications can be submitted by visiting the Real Estate Information Division at Guro-gu Office with the required documents. For more details, contact the Guro-gu Jeonse Fraud Victim Support Center.
