Shin Yubin and Lim Jonghoon Fail to Reach Mixed Doubles Final [Paris Olympics]
Meeting Hong Kong Athletes in the Bronze Medal Match
Shin Yubin (Korean Air) and Lim Jonghoon (Korea Exchange) were denied a spot in the 2024 Paris Olympic table tennis mixed doubles final.
The world No. 2 ranked pair lost 2-4 (11-6 7-11 11-9 5-11 7-11 9-11) on the 29th (local time) in the mixed doubles semifinals held at South Paris Arena 4 in Paris, France, to the world No. 1 ranked Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha. Once again, their dream of reaching the final was blocked by the Great Wall. Before the tournament, Lim Jonghoon and Shin Yubin had faced Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha four times and lost all matches.
Relegated to the bronze medal match, the two players will face Hong Kong’s Wong Chun Ting and Doo Hoi Kem. Ranked No. 4 in the world, they lost 3-4 (3-11 12-10 11-3 9-11 9-11 11-9 6-11) earlier that day to North Korea’s Ri Jong Sik and Kim Kum Yong (unranked).
