Gunwi County in Daegu Recruits 23 University Students for Seoul Happy Dormitory... Monthly Rent 100,000 Won
Gunwi County in Daegu and the Gunwi County Education Development Committee (Chairman: Gunwi County Governor Kim Jinryeol), together with the Korea Foundation for the Promotion of Private School Education, announced on the 29th that they are recruiting 23 residents for the Seoul Haengbok Dormitory in Dongsomun-dong, Seoul, until August 8.
The Gunwi County Seoul Haengbok Dormitory is a project run by the Korea Foundation for the Promotion of Private School Education, aiming to reduce the housing burden for university students by providing various public dormitories nationwide at an affordable cost, allowing students to focus on their studies.
An official from Gunwi County stated that through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Foundation for the Promotion of Private School Education, they have been allocated 30 slots in the newly opened Seoul Haengbok Dormitory in Dongsomun-dong (accommodating 750 people) since last September, and plan to select and accommodate 30 students from Gunwi County. For the second semester of this year, 23 spots (12 male, 11 female) remain from the first semester selection.
This year, the dormitory fee for the Gunwi County Seoul Haengbok Dormitory in Dongsomun-dong, Seoul, is set at 349,800 KRW per month. However, the Gunwi County Education Development Committee provides a subsidy of 249,800 KRW, so students selected by Gunwi County only need to pay 100,000 KRW per month to use the dormitory.
An official from Gunwi County stated, "The dormitory rooms are for two people, and meal costs, which range from 4,900 to 5,500 KRW per meal, must be paid by the students themselves."
The Gunwi County Seoul Haengbok Dormitory is located within a five-minute walk from the entrance of Sungshin Women's University Station, making public transportation convenient. It also offers excellent accessibility to major universities in Seoul, such as Korea University, Kyung Hee University, Sungkyunkwan University, and Sungshin Women's University.
Kim Jinryeol, Governor of Gunwi County in Daegu, said, "Through the Haengbok Dormitory, I hope that university students from our region can focus on their studies without worrying about housing," and added, "Gunwi County and the Gunwi County Education Development Committee will continue to support Gunwi students so they can pursue their dreams without concern."
Eligibility requirements for the Seoul Dongsomun-dong Haengbok Dormitory include any student enrolled at a two-year or higher university in Seoul or the metropolitan area, whose parents or themselves have resided in Gunwi County for at least one year.
