Dong-A University Law Research Institute and Qingdao University Law School Sign Agreement for Exchange of Research Achievements
Korea-China Civil and Commercial Law Research Center Opens at Qingdao University
The Dong-A University Institute of Law has signed an exchange agreement with the School of Law at Qingdao University in China (Dean Cai Yingwen) to promote research and the dissemination of research outcomes.
This agreement was established as part of the Humanities and Social Sciences Research Institute Support Project by the National Research Foundation of Korea, currently being conducted by the Dong-A University Institute of Law, titled "Legal System Changes and Social Response Directions According to the Co-evolution of Human-Technology-Institution in a Hyperconnected Society."
The signing ceremony, recently held at the School of Law at Qingdao University, was attended by Dong-A University representatives including Professor Kim Yongui and Graduate School Dean Song Gangjik, as well as Qingdao University representatives such as Dean Cai Yingwen, Vice Dean Ma Weidong, and Professor Wei Yonglong, head of Civil and Commercial Law.
The Dong-A University Institute of Law and the Qingdao University School of Law have agreed to further develop their cooperative relationship and expand the scope of exchanges to the graduate level, establishing an organic research cooperation system that includes student and researcher exchanges and joint research. To this end, a "Korea-China Civil and Commercial Law Research Center" will also be established at the Qingdao University School of Law.
Following the signing ceremony, the two institutions also held academic presentations on various legal issues in the era of artificial intelligence.
Active discussions between Korea and China took place on topics such as "Application and Issues of New Technologies in the Era of Artificial Intelligence: Focusing on ChatGPT and Blockchain," "Research on Personal Information Protection Issues," and "Study on Copyright Exceptions for Text and Data Mining."
Dong-A University and Qingdao University in China have maintained close exchanges even before the signing of this agreement.
Currently, three professors at Qingdao University hold doctoral degrees from the Graduate School of Law and the Graduate School of International Legal Affairs at Dong-A University, and two professors from Dong-A University are appointed at the School of Law. In addition, graduates with master's and doctoral degrees from the Graduate School of International Legal Affairs at Dong-A University are working as lawyers in Qingdao and also serve as lecturers at the Qingdao University School of Law.

We expect this to serve as a foundation not only for strengthening the research capabilities of the Institute of Law but also for presenting a new vision for Dong-A University."
