Nowon-gu Hosts Youth Horror Theme Festival 'MadiGOseuteu'
A Festival Where Youth Plan, Execute, and Evaluate Together, Recording High Satisfaction Every Year
Sanggye Youth Culture House Transforms from an Abandoned Hospital into an Event Venue
Diverse Side Events Including Horror Experiences, Magic Shows, and Youth Club Performances Also Prepared
Nowon-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will hold the 'MadiGOst' (Madi, Ghost) event, themed as a summer horror special, to celebrate the summer vacation.
The event name 'MadiGOst' combines 'Madi Center,' another name for the Youth Culture House, and 'Ghost,' symbolizing the horror theme. 'Madi' represents a growth point and a network link for youth.
The event, held on the 27th at Sanggye Youth Culture House (6, Dongil-ro 230-gil, Nowon-gu), was planned and executed primarily by the Youth Operating Committee, youth autonomous organizations, and youth clubs, adding significance to the event.
On the day of the event, from the basement level 1 to the 5th floor, Sanggye Youth Culture House will transform into an 'abandoned closed hospital.' Each floor will be arranged as a children's ward, hospital lobby, examination room, youth ward, quarantine zone, and emergency room, creating an atmosphere similar to a horror movie set.
Youth visiting the 'abandoned closed hospital' can enjoy or watch horror-themed experiences, play booths, magic shows, youth club performances, food booths, and photo zones. Experience booths include special makeup and making horror items, and snacks at the food booths are prepared to match the overall theme, such as blood bags (slushies) and zombie hands (snack bundles).
To create their own festival, the youth collaborated over a long period. The Youth Operating Committee conducted a needs survey targeting peers who use the Culture House and reflected on evaluations of past events in their planning. Selecting the 'summer horror special' theme while considering that overly emphasizing the horror atmosphere could be overwhelming for toddlers or children was also a decision made by the youth themselves.
Additionally, Sanggye Youth Culture House supports youth activities by including safety education and hygiene guidance, and two village clubs will participate in programs such as exorcism games.
