Pop Stars Including Charli XCX, Janelle Mon?e Also Join Support
Famous Hollywood actors and pop stars have come forward to support Vice President Kamala Harris, who has emerged as a leading Democratic presidential candidate in the United States. Pop star Beyonc? has allowed her songs to be used in Harris's campaign, and Hollywood star George Clooney has officially expressed his support, saying he would "do anything for Harris."
Foreign media outlets such as AFP and CNN reported on the 23rd (local time) that well-known musicians including Janelle Mon?e, John Legend, and Charli XCX have publicly endorsed Vice President Harris. In particular, Beyonc? has reportedly permitted her song "Freedom" to be used in Harris's campaign.
"Freedom" is a song in which Beyonc? expresses her identity as a Black woman and voices the call for Black rights and freedom. It is a track from her sixth album, "Lemonade," released in 2016, and has since become a representative anthem chanted at Black rights protests. The song was also played as background music when Vice President Harris visited her presidential campaign office in Wilmington, Delaware, the day before.
Beyonc? is known to have strict standards for the use of her music for purposes such as election campaigns, but she reportedly approved immediately when the Harris campaign requested to use her song. Beyonc?'s mother also supports Vice President Harris as a presidential candidate, and Beyonc?'s fans are sharing posts mixing Harris's speeches and interviews on social networking services (SNS).
Vice President Harris is known to be a longtime fan of Beyonc?. In August last year, she attended Beyonc?'s world tour concert at FedEx Field on the outskirts of Washington DC with her husband.

Hollywood stars have also expressed their support for Harris. Actor George Clooney, known as a longtime Democratic supporter, issued a statement that day saying, "We are all very pleased to be able to do anything to support Vice President Harris in her historic mission," expressing his support. Previously, Clooney contributed to raising the largest amount ever in fundraising for President Biden's campaign, but recently caused a stir by calling for Biden to withdraw from the presidential race due to concerns about his age and cognitive abilities.
