Gim Oksu, Gwangju Seo-gu Council Member, Enacts 'Ordinance for Repair Support of Mobility Devices for Disabled'
Oksoo Kim, a member of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Council, proposed the 'Partial Amendment to the Ordinance on Support for Repair of Mobility Devices for the Disabled' during the 324th extraordinary session, which was passed in the plenary session.
The ordinance was prepared to contribute to improving mobility convenience and social activity participation for the disabled by supplementing support standards for repair of mobility devices for the disabled and establishing matters related to education on the use of electric mobility devices.
This ordinance includes provisions on ▲ designation of repair companies for wheelchairs and other mobility devices for the disabled ▲ support for repair costs and revision of standards ▲ regulations on education for the use of electric mobility devices ▲ regulations on personal information protection.
With the amendment of the ordinance, it is expected to provide more stable support for securing the mobility rights of the disabled by clearly stipulating the grounds and detailed matters regarding the designation of repair companies for mobility devices for the disabled, standards, procedures, and support targets for repair support through the ordinance.
In this regard, Councilor Kim said, “Through this partial amendment of the ordinance, I hope to alleviate the economic difficulties of disabled people residing in Seo-gu who use mobility devices and greatly help improve their mobility rights,” adding, “I will continue to take an active interest in and work on supporting the repair of mobility devices for the disabled.”
