Israel Military Shoots Canadian Threatening with a Weapon
A Canadian who attempted to wield a weapon at Israeli soldiers on site was shot dead, local media including the Times of Israel reported on the 22nd (local time).
According to local police, the Canadian stopped his car next to three sentry soldiers at the Netiv HaAsara checkpoint in the northern Gaza Strip around 11 a.m. that day, got out, shouted in English, "The Israeli army is killing civilians in Gaza," and drew a knife. He was shot dead on the spot by the soldiers' immediate gunfire.

The Israeli military explained that the Canadian was Muslim and had entered Israel the day before on a tourist visa. Authorities are treating the incident as a terrorist attack and are investigating.
