"Supporting Stability in Apple Prices"
Discounts on Summer Fruits Like Peaches and Melons
Coupang announced on the 22nd that it will sell 50 tons of fresh apples, including Summer Prince, Summer King, and Aori, at discounted prices.
In this event, Coupang will offer green apples such as Summer Prince, Summer King, and Aori at the lowest prices in the industry, and will also sell summer fruits like peaches, melons, cherries, and plums at discounted rates. To this end, Coupang stated that it has prepared about 300 tons of summer fruits, including 50 tons of fresh apples.
Earlier, Coupang purchased 10 tons of green apples (Summer Prince) over three weeks starting from the end of June and offered them at prices about 30% cheaper than Fuji apples. This month, Coupang is continuously purchasing various varieties of fresh apples such as Summer Prince, Summer King, and Aori from production areas like Yeongju in Gyeongbuk and Chungju in Chungbuk to secure supply.
According to the June consumer price trends announced by Statistics Korea, the consumer price index last month was 113.84, up 2.4% compared to the same month last year. The strong prices of fruits such as apples (63.1%) continued. Coupang plans to contribute to stabilizing the soaring apple prices, known as "Gold (Geum) Apples," through purchasing and discount sales of fresh apples.
