Yangsan City, Gyeongnam Province, announced that it has decided to entrust the operation of the 'Mulgeum Youth Culture Center,' which is scheduled for completion in July 2024, to the Hangaram Cultural Foundation.
Two organizations applied for the bid to operate the Mulgeum Youth Culture Center. On the 17th, Yangsan City held a selection committee for the entrusted institution, where it comprehensively evaluated the operational capability, expertise, and management plans of the applicants through document and presentation reviews, ultimately selecting the Hangaram Cultural Foundation as the final operator.
The Mulgeum Youth Culture Center, located in Gachon-ri, Mulgeum-eup, was constructed with a total project cost of 18.2 billion KRW. The facility consists of one underground and three above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 4,052.11 square meters. It is equipped with a performance hall, cooking studio, broadcasting room, webtoon studio, and cultural creation room. After a trial operation period between October and November, the center is scheduled to officially open around December 2024.
The Hangaram Cultural Foundation, selected as the operator of the Mulgeum Youth Culture Center, is based in Changwon City and currently manages a total of 17 facilities, including youth-related centers such as the Jinhae Youth Center, Miryang Youth Training Center, and Haman Youth Training Center. The foundation plans to sign a contract with Yangsan City in July and operate the center under commission until 2027.
Kang Jeongsuk, Director of the Women and Youth Division, stated, "We expect the Hangaram Cultural Foundation to fully utilize the capabilities and know-how it has accumulated through operating youth facilities and programs, so that the newly opened Mulgeum Youth Culture Center will become a comfortable yet special space for young people."
