Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk Province will conduct a 'Special Inspection of Livestock Manure Discharge Facilities' until the 31st in response to the rainy season.
The city announced on the 15th that it plans to focus inspections around vulnerable areas during the rainy season to prevent environmental pollution in advance and to prevent the discharge of livestock manure into public water bodies, concentrating on the areas near Jeongeupcheon Stream, Dongjingang River, and Okjeongho Reservoir.

In particular, inspections will focus on densely populated livestock barns adjacent to rivers, liquid fertilizer storage facilities, habitual complaint sites, and illegal compost dumping areas, with nighttime guidance and inspections during rainy weather throughout the inspection period.
The main inspection items include ▲ the act of piling up or leaving livestock manure or compost near rivers or discharging them into public water bodies ▲ unauthorized discharge of livestock wastewater into public water bodies during heavy rain ▲ leakage of compost leachate caused by rainwater inflow into composting facilities ▲ and thorough monitoring of illegal activities exploiting difficulties in enforcement during the rainy season, such as the installation of secret discharge outlets.
A city official stated, “If violations are found during the inspection, strong measures such as prosecution and administrative actions will be taken according to relevant laws,” and added, “Livestock farms and facilities related to livestock manure should strive to manage their facilities to protect public health and preserve the local environment.”
