Hwaseong-si Promotes Data-Driven 'Barrier-Free Environment Construction Project'
Cooperative 'Jageun Siseon' and Partners
Providing Barrier-Free Store Data for Transportation-Disadvantaged Groups
Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province is promoting the 'Barrier-Free Environment Construction Project' for transportation-disadvantaged individuals. This project involves building data related to 'barrier-free stores' that can be easily accessed using wheelchairs and other mobility aids, and providing this information to transportation-disadvantaged people.
On the 12th, Hwaseong City announced that it was selected for the 'Sympathy e-Gadeuk Project,' a data-driven regional revitalization project led by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, in collaboration with the cooperative 'Jageun Siseon,' and will receive 100 million KRW in national funding.
'Sympathy e-Gadeuk' is a project where local governments, businesses, and residents cooperate to identify and solve community issues based on data and digital technology. In March, Jageun Siseon and Hwaseong City set the task of 'Improving and Establishing a Barrier-Free Urban Environment in Hwaseong City Based on Big Data' and participated in the contest, ultimately being selected as the winning project.
As a result of the selection, the city and Jageun Siseon will collect data related to barrier-free stores accessible by transportation-disadvantaged individuals using wheelchairs and other mobility aids, and provide this information.
Jageun Siseon has developed the 'Will Chair' application and currently provides facility data for over 6,000 establishments such as restaurants and cafes in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Busan, Daegu, and Gyeongnam to transportation-disadvantaged users. Through this contest project, Jageun Siseon plans to expand the Will Chair service area to cover the entire Hwaseong City. Hwaseong City will additionally provide unopened public data necessary for project implementation and support the data construction process by operating citizen participation activities.
Jageun Siseon will particularly analyze route data of transportation-disadvantaged mobility support vehicles to identify priority locations where barrier-free store data should be constructed first based on high travel frequency, and provide this information.
