50s Man Arrested and Prosecuted for Forcibly Trying to Abduct Teenage Girl
The prosecution has indicted a man in his 50s on charges of attempted abduction after he tried to forcibly take away a teenage female student.
On the 12th, the Criminal Division 4 of the Seoul Northern District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Yoon Su-jeong) announced that they had indicted Mr. A on charges including attempted abduction of a minor and violation of the Child Welfare Act (child abuse) the previous day.
Mr. A is accused of rushing at a 15-year-old female student returning home at around 4 p.m. on the 26th of last month at an apartment in Nowon-gu, Seoul, and attempting to forcibly take her away. The crime was thwarted due to the intervention of the victim’s parents who came out after hearing her screams, and Mr. A was arrested on the spot by the police.

A prosecution official stated, “Considering the severe physical and psychological shock suffered by the victim child, in addition to the attempted abduction of a minor charge transferred from the police, the child abuse charge was also applied,” and added, “We will make every effort to maintain the prosecution to ensure that punishment corresponding to the crime is carried out in the future.”
