Distributed Energy Specialized Zone Meeting, Industry-Academia-Research Collaboration
On the 11th, Ulsan City launched the nation's first "Distributed Energy Support Center" at the main building of Ulsan Technopark to promote the designation of Ulsan as a specialized distributed energy zone.
According to the "Special Act on the Promotion of Distributed Energy," local governments may establish Distributed Energy Support Centers to provide consultation, guidance, publicity, research, handling and proxy of civil affairs, business incubation, and other support services for companies related to distributed energy.
In response, the city has proactively launched the Distributed Energy Support Center and is making an all-out effort for the designation of a specialized zone by establishing plans, supporting companies, and discovering new business opportunities.
The Distributed Energy Support Center, launched on this day, will be operated by a total of 10 members.
Initially, existing personnel from Ulsan City and Ulsan Technopark will be utilized, and if the area is designated as a specialized zone, it will be converted into a permanent organization.
The center director and deputy director will be concurrently held by the head of the Energy Industry Division of Ulsan City and the head of the Energy Technology Support Group at Ulsan Technopark, respectively. The team members will consist of staff from the Energy Policy Team of the Energy Industry Division of Ulsan City and the Distributed Energy Center at Ulsan Technopark.
Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom stated, "Ulsan City has played a leading role in the enactment and passage of the Special Act on the Promotion of Distributed Energy by actively proposing its legislation," adding, "We will do our best to achieve good results in the designation of a specialized distributed energy zone."
The event was attended by about 50 people, including Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom, representatives from the Ministry of Industry, Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, Korea Energy Agency, Ulsan Institute, and members of the Ulsan Distributed Energy Specialized Zone Promotion Group.
Following the inauguration ceremony of the Distributed Energy Support Center, a roundtable discussion was held to promote the designation of the distributed energy specialized zone.
During the roundtable, participants shared information on the Special Act on the Promotion of Distributed Energy, the progress of the Ulsan distributed energy specialized zone, and gathered opinions from related companies.

Ulsan City plans to review the collected opinions, reflect them in the specialized zone plan, and apply for the designation of the Ulsan distributed energy specialized zone in accordance with the schedule set by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
