Man Urgently Arrested for Breaking into Detached House in Broad Daylight and Assaulting Woman in Her 50s
Charges Including Trespassing and Property Damage
A man in his 20s was urgently arrested by the police on suspicion of breaking into a detached house where a woman in her 50s lives during the daytime and assaulting her multiple times.
On the 8th, the Dongjak Police Station in Seoul announced that they have arrested and are investigating a man in his 20s, identified as Mr. A, on charges of trespassing, property damage, and serious injury.
Mr. A is suspected of breaking the door of a detached house in Sadang-dong, Dongjak-gu, Seoul, around 1 p.m. on the 1st, and repeatedly punching a woman in her 50s, identified as Ms. B.
The police received a citizen's report stating "Ms. B's screams were heard" and urgently arrested Mr. A within about 10 minutes.
As a result of Mr. A's assault, Ms. B suffered injuries requiring more than two weeks of medical treatment, including cerebral hemorrhage and hemorrhages in both eyes and retinas. Police investigations revealed that Mr. A is a neighbor living next door to Ms. B.

The police applied for an arrest warrant for Mr. A, but the court dismissed the warrant, stating there was "no risk of flight." The police plan to transfer Mr. A to prosecution this week.
