Vice Chairman Yoon Sang-hyun Establishes Collaboration System for New K-Beauty Star Brand Launch
KOLMAR Korea is partnering with Amazon, the world's largest e-commerce platform. The two companies plan to establish a collaborative system to support the successful global expansion of K-beauty companies.
On the 27th, Yoon Sang-hyun, Vice Chairman of the Kolmar Group, delivered a welcoming speech at the 'Amazon Beauty Conference' held at the InterContinental Hotel in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. He stated, "This event, jointly hosted by Kolmar and Amazon, will contribute to spreading the innovation and value of K-beauty worldwide beyond a simple business partnership," adding, "We will ensure the birth of new star brands in K-beauty."
He continued, "This event will be a meaningful opportunity to explore new chances for the global expansion of K-beauty and to share concrete execution strategies," and said, "It is significant as the first collaboration held by Amazon and Kolmar to actively join hands for the globalization of K-beauty."
The event was attended by over 1,500 participants from domestic beauty brand companies as well as distribution and manufacturing sectors, both online and offline. Attendees included Yoon Sang-hyun, Vice Chairman of the Kolmar Group, Jim Yang, Vice President of Global Selling Asia-Pacific (APAC), and Yuki Suita, Head of Amazon Japan Consumer Beauty Business.
This event was organized to actively support domestic beauty companies seeking to enter overseas markets as K-beauty experiences rapid growth on Amazon.
On the day, Vice Chairman Yoon emphasized, "K-beauty is achieving great success in the United States, the world's largest cosmetics market," and added, "Korea has already become the third-largest cosmetics importer in the U.S., following France and Canada in 2020." In fact, sales of K-beauty products on Amazon Global Store increased by more than 75% compared to the previous year.
Vice Chairman Yoon evaluated, "One of the popular brands on Amazon is Joseon Beauty, which is one of the clients growing alongside Kolmar," and said, "Even small and medium-sized brands without manufacturing facilities are driving K-beauty's growth by collaborating with Kolmar through their ideas and marketing capabilities."
He explained, "Based on research and development leading market trends and research and production bases established worldwide, we will present the best path for co-growth with promising small and medium-sized cosmetics brands."
