Silla University Department of Architecture Wins 2nd Place at International Architectural Design Competition... Only Korean Student Awarded

The Department of Architecture at Silla University (President: Heo Namsik) won second place in the 'International Architecture Design Competition' hosted by ARCHMELLO.
ARCHMELLO, a platform established to foster young and innovative architectural talents, holds an international architecture design competition every year with various themes.
This year, from February 10 to May 20, the competition was held under the theme ‘Uran Insert,’ which involved planning an urban facility in the plaza in front of the Gate of India in Mumbai, India.
Kim Chaehyun, a student from the Department of Architecture at Silla University who participated in this competition, submitted a work titled ‘fLEXIBLE sPACE,’ proposing an irregular waffle-structured installation that can serve diverse and flexible functions such as relaxation and reading in the city center. Recognized for excellence in both idea and form, Kim received the second-place award on the 10th. Kim Chaehyun was the only Korean student among the winners in this competition.
Kim Chaehyun stated, “I am honored to receive an award in an international competition. I sincerely thank my advising professor, and I will continue to do my best to further develop myself with the passion I felt while preparing for this competition.”

Professor Hwang Deokhyeon, the academic advisor, commented, “Kim Chaehyun's proposal is an excellent work that combines in-depth consideration of the possibilities of architecture in various urban contexts with the application of digital technology for sculptural design.” He added, “As a professor, I am proud and grateful to see the high-level thinking and sensibility of Silla University architecture students, including Kim Chaehyun, being reflected in the results of various competitions.”
