A man in his 40s who gave a customer a drink laced with a psychotropic drug, causing the customer to lose consciousness and then stole money and valuables, has been brought to trial.
On the 27th, the Jeju District Prosecutors' Office announced that they recently arrested and indicted caf? owner Mr. A on charges including violation of the Narcotics Control Act.
Earlier, Mr. A is accused of secretly lacing a drink with zolpidem and inducing a male customer to drink it at a caf? in Daejeong-eup, Seogwipo City on the 2nd of last month. After the customer lost consciousness, Mr. A stole 200,000 won in cash and a card from the customer's wallet.
Using the stolen card, Mr. A purchased precious metals including a gold necklace worth approximately 2.5 million won. Mr. A then immediately fled to another region and was arrested on the 24th of last month at a lodging facility in Wonju City, Gangwon Province, after being found hiding by the Seogwipo Police Station, which had launched an investigation.
