Jangseong-gun Urges Caution Against Tick-Borne Infectious Diseases... Emphasizes Strict Personal Hygiene
Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, has urged caution against tick-borne infectious diseases as June, a month with frequent outdoor activities such as the busy farming season, approaches.
According to the county on the 26th, tick-borne infectious diseases occur when bitten by infected ticks and include Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (SFTS) and Tsutsugamushi disease.

In particular, Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome, which has a cumulative fatality rate of 18.7%, requires special attention as there are no vaccines or treatments available. If symptoms such as high fever, vomiting, or diarrhea appear within 5 to 14 days after outdoor activities, immediate medical attention is necessary.
To avoid infection, minimize skin exposure when going to grassy fields or hills and use tick repellents.
Also, after going outside, wash the clothes worn and take a bath to maintain personal hygiene.
The county has distributed tick repellents to residents at risk of infection, such as farmers, and continues to provide tailored education and promote preventive measures.
A representative from the Jangseong County Health Center said, “In June, outdoor gatherings are active, increasing the risk of contracting tick-borne infectious diseases. We ask everyone to strictly follow preventive measures to enjoy a healthy daily life.”
