Korea Editors Association 60th Anniversary Special Exhibition... Held at Gwanghwamun Square
The Korea Editors Association (President Kim Chang-hwan, hereinafter referred to as the Association) and the Jongno Cultural Foundation (District Mayor Jeong Mun-heon, hereinafter referred to as the Foundation) will hold a special exhibition titled "The Horizon of the Press" from July 2 to 5 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Association's founding.
The exhibition will be held at the Gwanghwamun Plaza Playground (around the King Sejong statue) in Jongno, a city steeped in the history of press development, with an opening ceremony at 11 a.m. on July 2.
In keeping with the Association's 60th anniversary, the exhibition, shaped around the number "60," consists of three main themes. The first theme, "Editors Opening the Horizon of the Press," introduces the role of editors, the Association’s history, and its activities. The second theme, "Jongno, the City Where the Horizon of the Press Opened," highlights Jongno as the center of the press, focusing on media companies within Jongno and Jongno’s presence in the media. Lastly, under the theme "People Who Opened the Horizon," the exhibition showcases the 60-year journey of Korean editors through award-winning pages of the Korea Editing Awards and representative works from 53 member companies.
Additionally, various interactive experiences such as writing messages in the lettering zone and creating your own headline will be available. Visitors who post photos on social media with the hashtags #KoreaEditorsAssociation #JongnoCulturalFoundation #HorizonOfThePress will receive small gifts.
Kim Chang-hwan, President of the Korea Editors Association, said, "It is meaningful to hold this exhibition at Gwanghwamun Plaza in Jongno, the center of politics, media, and culture, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Korea Editors Association." He added, "We hope this serves as a starting point to reflect on the history and role of editing through the 60-year journey of editors and to reconsider the role of the press centered on the value of newspapers as records." He also said, "Wherever there is news, there has always been an editor," and expressed hope that "the unchanging value of editing, despite changes, will be well conveyed to citizens through this exhibition."
