This visit was arranged to accelerate comprehensive cooperation on energy projects in the Philippines being pursued by Meralco and Doosan Enerbility. Doosan Enerbility welcomed the delegation with Vice Chairman Jeong Yeon-in and Head of Marketing Division Kim Jeong-gwan.
Founded in 1903, Meralco is the largest private power company in the Philippines, overseeing 39 cities and 72 municipalities, supplying about 55% of the country's total electricity. Last year, Vice Chairman Jeong Yeon-in of Doosan Enerbility met with Meralco Chairman Manuel Velez Pangilinan in the Philippines, laying the foundation for cooperation between the two companies.
The delegation visited the nuclear power plant producing the Korean-type nuclear reactor APR1400 main equipment, the gas turbine factory producing 380MW-class ultra-large gas turbines for power generation, and the forging plant equipped with the world's largest 17,000-ton press to observe Doosan Enerbility's production capabilities firsthand. The two companies plan to strengthen cooperation focusing on nuclear power, SMR, combined cycle power, and gas turbines, including the Bataan nuclear power plant in the Philippines, whose construction was halted.
Jeong Yeon-in, Vice Chairman of Doosan Enerbility, said, "It is very meaningful that the core management of Meralco, which supplies the most electricity in the Philippines, visited Changwon in person to directly verify Doosan's manufacturing capabilities. We hope to contribute not only to the power supply and demand in the Philippines but also to achieving greenhouse gas reduction goals based on cooperation with Meralco."

Doosan Enerbility is strengthening local marketing to expand its presence in the Philippine market. In 2022, it was the only domestic company to attend the inauguration ceremony of Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Last year, it met potential clients including the Philippine Department of Environment and Meralco, as well as developer Aboitiz, in Manila to introduce Korean-type gas turbines and hydrogen turbines. The Philippines uses the same 60Hz frequency as Korea, making the export of Korean-type gas turbines easier.
