Busan Jungang Library Hosts 'Meet the Impressionists: 150th Anniversary of Impressionism' Event

Busan Metropolitan Central Library (Director Kim Jungtae) will hold the Humanities Academy for Educational Families, "Meeting the Impressionists: 150th Anniversary of Impressionism," online every Wednesday at 2 p.m. from July 10 to 31. The program is open to 30 teachers and Busan citizens.
This humanities academy has been prepared to meet the diverse learning needs of educational families through a humanities program that encourages communication and empathy.
The program will be conducted through lectures by Professor Lee Gunhee from the Department of Fine Arts at Silla University. In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the emergence of Impressionism, the course will introduce the Impressionist movement, a significant turning point in art history and the beginning of modern art, focusing on artists and their works.
On July 10, the session titled "Impressionism and Claude Monet" will explore the portrait works of Claude Monet, a representative Impressionist painter, and his innovative technique of series painting.
On July 17, in "Auguste Renoir and Edgar Degas," participants will appreciate the works of Renoir and Degas and learn about the Impressionist movement while exploring the suburban cities of France that served as the backdrop for their paintings.
On July 24, in the session "Camille Pissarro and Alfred Sisley," the works of Camille Pissarro, known as a mentor of Post-Impressionism, will be analyzed, along with an appreciation of the works of Alfred Sisley.
On July 31, the session "The Emergence of Post-Impressionism and Paul Cezanne" will analyze the unique styles of Paul Cezanne and Paul Gauguin, masters of Post-Impressionism who transcended Impressionism.
